Filming Roles 

Media  production is a communal participation which requires a division of labour, which provide a wide range of specialised skills in order to construct the right shots in getting the accurate representation of the "star image" for the "pop promo" and single release.

When it comes to the shoot day me and our production group will have our own role to do on the day to contribute to the making of our video. As a group we made a list of what roles were required on the day. Firstly we need a  (Director). A director is responsible for organising and instructing the actors/ performer). we would need a (Camera person), so someone who is in charge of the camera on the day. so paying attention to the camera framing , and different variety of shot sizes and close attention to the mise en scene. We would also need a (art director) who is responsible for location, props, costume, makeup, and continuity.Would also be necessary to have a ( Sound Playback and lighting desk) . And Lastly we are required to have a (producer). A producer is someone who is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the shoot, organising the other three members of the production team and ensuring the smooth running of the shoot results in effective execution of the the objectives.


In our production group we planned who was going to do the different roles on set.

Set 1 :

Set 2 :

For set 1 ,  which is the band ,  the band  i am ( art director). My job is to make sure we are organised with props , costume, location , makeup and providing  continuity through the first set regarding to making sure we are prompt and the shoot goes smoothly for our actors and my production  group. it is important to have an art director because on the first set i will be able to put my opinion across to our actors and direct them with reference to there overall image that we have constructed. before the shoot day i will need to make sure all the costumes are in the studio before shoot day and make sure they fit our actors. Also in relation to makeup i will make sure we have a suitable amount of makeup for the models. Will also make sure our set that we have pitched is finalised and ready for the shoot day. For our shoot day we do not need to bring in any materials except for props such as a cane and a pocket watch for our lead singer. in perspective there will not be many challenges on the shoot day because we have thought out every step of the process but however we may struggle with the actors playing the guitar/ piano realistically, nonetheless we have taken action on that element and sent our actors the guitar/drum/piano part of our chosen song , so that when it comes to the day of the shoot they are prepared.  if the dressers break on the shoot day since they are quiet delicate, i have brought in sub dressers, that can replace them if needs be. In the first set , since i am art director i am in charge of the mis en scene , for example with the models they are wearing short sexy sequinned dressers this "sex appeal" image is approaching the star theory stereotype of dyers theory. the models are viewed as a dream a "fantasy" which relates to his theory of creating that star image. Also with the band they are following Indie Alternative genre conventions. i apply this convention through their mise en scene , for example costumes and props the band are wearing edgy everyday casual wear , and their props are their instruments such as guitar which again reflects our chosen genre convention.
within my role i will target our chosen target audience through our bands image and the models image.

For the 2nd set  which is the models with the lead singer , i am Director. i am responsible for organising and instructing the actors. it is very necessary to have a director because on the day of the shoot i will be informing what i would like the actors to do and how they will comply to the camera accordingly. I am in charge of the choreography of the models , and we plan to have the models pose in different posses by themselves and with the lead singer. the whole ( sex appeal) image that is reflecting off as their image relates to the 'star theory' of star's being known in their own way such as their 'beauty' and this is what i will be portraying to the audience/camera, with me directing them.
