Tension within thriller

Here's my response:

At the beginning it was black screen to focus the audience’s attention entirely to the answerphone messages. The machine beep sound effect at the beginning created mystery and suspension to the video. There where shots by the camera which were in deep depth and focus that were showing letters on the floor and other clues to the mystery of the video.

The pace of the camera moving through the house was slow which created tension, this made the audience focus on scene elements, which the audience makes a subconscious note of. They used white font , which represented purity, creating a contrast with the background, also juxtaposing the colour of the blood which we see later in the video.

There were compression and distortion and a short reverb to the messages and beeps to give the impression of it being played from an old machine/ telephone, this could create the theme of time and questions of what may have happened. They also automated the EQ’s low-cut to go from higher to low as it built up to the climax. During the video the decided to use a low shot of the bedroom to create suspense and not give away all at once. The camera slowly pan from the characters hand to his face to build tension and suspense. There is Razor tool here to create an elongated still image, allowing the audience to take in this in this intense shot. There is a birds eye view shot which zooms out to establish full extent of brutal murder.
