Representation of gender - wire in the blood

Image
In wire blood gender is represented in numerous ways. For example in the first section of the clip were you see a long shot of the main male character at a distance from the women , you see what the male is wearing , and this scene could replicate the mise-en-scene were you get an insight to what the characters are wearing and the location , lighting and colour .For example firstly the male character is wearing a big black coat , a black shirt a black tie, and black trousers this helps create a serious mood , and the tie implies that he is at work. The man is having a go at the women, which could imply the representation of gender, this also shows how men are dominant over women. You can also see that the camera is jerking around which could replicate that the camera is hand held, plus this could convey the unsteadiness between the man and women. Another way you see how men are dominant over women is through the fact that you see a glimpse of her through  the bars om the fence...

Welcome to me (Nandi)

Image
My name is Nandi Clarke , and i have a passion for dancing, singing, fashion,Art and modelling. i also enjoy reading and watching lots of series on Netflix. i especially love hanging out with my friends.I live partly in Switzerland and in Brighton,Chelsea, and Spain. i am a very international person and and i am very social and love to make friends on my journeys to various places. My favorite film is Fifty Shades of Grey. i love this film because it has a sinister depth to it. And a psychological theme that is more reveled in the second film/book which creates answers and questions in the first film. their is a psychological intrigue through Christian using BDSM on women that look like his mother who was on drugs when he was little and got abused by her pimp , so Christian had a rough childhood and the mother had died when he was little , and those clips and memories of his mother taking drugs and being abused had stayed with him and seemed to of scared him mentally , the...

Editing workshop

Image
EDITING WORKSHOP When editing there seems to be a slang language , and when  you have unedited footage it is called 'rushes'. and files are called 'bins', and ''Dailys' is when you capture the next day when you have finished editing . The short cut for saving your work is press the button 'cmd' then pressing 'S'. to get to the cutting too you press'' cmd C'. A time line allows you to select the footage you want. i also learnt that there are 4 different sections in editing 1 and 2 shows you controls, and 3 an 4

Camera workshop 2

CAMERA WORKSHOP 2  When it came to shooting the prelim we shot in 'wide first' because we wanted to get the whole shot including the background in so when it came to editing we could have all angles. Continuity is very important because it makes sure that every shot fits together. i learnt that marks are used to show were the actors are supposed to stand based on how the directer films it You film before and after/before saying action or cut because it leaves more reaction time they also told me that the actors shouldn't"watch the footage back on set because then it would take more time and then the actors or directors could end up questioning everything. We also were given certain call outs to get everyone on set ready to shoot and film for example we would say 'stand by' to the actors then they would say 'stand by' too if they were ready, they when we stated to record we would say 'Rolling' then 'action' for the...

Prelim part 2

Image
Editing the Prelim   we used a apple computer to edit. i helped edit daisy's Prelim since i had not recorded my own prelim at the time. we started off looking at all the camera shoots so from wide shot first then from over the head , and extreme close ups. A these different shots had been acted from the begging so we could easily pick and choose which camera angles we liked best and what suited the scene. We starting off as putting in different shots of daisy J and, Daisy but found that the whole edit was very random at times and not fluid ,so When editing we would make sure that there was at least 2 seconds of film before hand when putting in a new specific angle so the whole edit would look fluid.looking at the footage we could have made longer pauses on the dialogue and on the edit so the audience can really take in the actors emotive response. we also could have used more of the material that we had filmed since our edit may have been over cut out. when it comes to editi...

Prelim part 1

Image
In our group we filmed 2 actors performing a short dramatic scene. we moved the camera into different angles creating a close up of their faces and a more distant angle. we first shot the camera from a long wide shot (point of view shot) and filmed the whole monologue from that angle. Then we changed to a overhead view point (still in the 180 degrees area unwise it would look like we swapped sides) we started off filming Andrew from the overhead shot and filmed the whole monologue from that view point , then we decided we wanted a close up so we filmed it again but more in extreme close up so we could capture every reaction. We did the same over head view shot to for the other actor Adrian.afterwards we decided we wanted a close up of the door slamming whilst Andrew left the stage so we filmed an extreme close up of the door slamming for effect when it comes to editing.  overhead view , close up of Adrian close up of the door slamming    View point angle I learn abo...

Camera workshop 1

Camera workshop 1: in my first practical workshop i was shown the blackmagic and Sursa 4KEF camera , that came with a tripod.when handling the camera i learnt that if you are parsing over the camera you would need to say 'yours' and the person receiving the camera would say 'mine' this form of communication ensures that no harm or damage happens to the camera. The spirit level is there at the back of the camera to show the camera is okay.To focus and zoom there are 2 different rings on the lens, one is for focus and the other for zoom. You have to zoom in and out to make sure the camera is focused all the way.I also learnt that 'so'is light sensitivity and you need to put it on a certain setting called 20300 and that's the (normal).I also learnt that a shutter angle is how much light comes into the camera , and the ideal setting would be 180 depending on the sunlight. i realized while using the camera that white balancing helps to alter the setting...

Tension within thriller

Image
Here's my response: At the beginning it was black screen to focus the audience’s attention entirely to the answerphone messages. The machine beep sound effect at the beginning created mystery and suspension to the video. There where shots by the camera which were in deep depth and focus that were showing letters on the floor and other clues to the mystery of the video.  The pace of the camera moving through the house was slow which created tension, this made the audience focus on scene elements, which the audience makes a subconscious note of. They used white font , which represented purity, creating a contrast with the background, also juxtaposing the colour of the blood which we see later in the video.   There were compression and distortion and a short reverb to the messages and beeps to give the impression of it being played from an old machine/ telephone, this could create the theme of time and questions of what may have happened. They also automate...
