focus group and results

Focus group results

  • Overall all of the focus group thought that our music video fit with our campaign so the website and the DigiPak (which I explained to them). This was very good feedback as it meant that my group had managed to make sure that all of our genre convection were similar and connected to each other through our campaign and all of our products.

  • When asking the focus group if they understood that the settings were connected (although it is hard to hear on the music video due to other noises) a girl states that she thought the two settings were both connected underground which was the answer we were hoping to find as it means that our music video makes sense.
  • Finally, we wanted to see if the focus group understood the relationship between the models and the band. And one girl understood that when the singer was in the chair he was 'in control' of the models and another guy pointed out that when the singer was below and the models are looking down on him they were also using him at the same time. So overall the audience understanding of the music video was successful.
  • They also recommended that maybe to make the music video more in sync in some places which we could work on.

 Website feedback

Question: How do you find the use of colours as the title?
Answer: Easy to see and no clash with the background.

Question: Could you suggest any other colours that would go with the lining?

Answer: The multiple colours on the skull on the digipak were nice, but use it a bit more throughout the whole website. Also liked the video in the background of the website.

Question: Is the website accessible and easy to use?
Answer: I find it accessible enough easy to navigate.

Question: How much would you buy an album for?
Answer: It depends on the album and how good it is, they would have to listen to the song to see.

Question: How do you feel about the preview video?
Answer: They liked the preview video as a background since you never get bored, and its captivating and makes you look at it more.

Question: What genre do you think the website is representing?
Answer: Rock alternative or indie alternative

The Digipak
  • The picture of the digipak which we took on the phone and uploaded to the computer and projector is bad quality as the background of the front and back side looks grey when in reality it is black, so because of that misunderstanding we were advised to use the black background as it is on the physical digipak and not grey as it was on the projector.
  • We were told that if you open the digipak and look at the front and back cover and its colours it all works well.
  • Our focus group liked that the half of the skull is split into two colours.
  • We were advised to add something to the spine and no just leave it blank.
  • We were told that because other colours in the album are not very bright, the red and blue on the front side stands out too much in comparison to the other sides in the album.
  • Some advised us to use only one colour for the half of the skill, so either red or blue for the front side and either white or grey for the back side.
  • We were told that MK letters on the front cover look like Michael Kors bags.
  • Some liked that the skull is split into red and blue, because where the colour changes to a different one it is as if it underlines the band name Kings by Knight, so the difference between the band name and album name is very clear.
  • Our focus group liked all three different colours of the font, they said that if we use the same colour for both band name and album name it would look empty.
  • We were advised to keep the correlation between all 4 sides of the album throughout the whole album, so if we use red, blue, white and grey as a front and back side, we should use the same colours for the inside sides too.
  • We were told that Jose’s (the guy on the very right of the inside left side) neck is shorter than others', so we should cut all guys’ neck before their shoulders can be seen.
